From the Poet Laureate

Welcome to vancouververse.ca – the official site of the City of Vancouver's Poet Laureate.

It is an honour to be Vancouver's third Poet Laureate and I look forward to continuing the impressive work of my predecessors George McWhirter and Brad Cran. Part of the focus of my three-year tenure as Poet Laureate will be to raise the profile of local poets and bring poetry into public spaces and into the public discourse. I look forward to meeting with emerging poets in one-to-one consultations at our beautiful Central Library starting in March. I will be available for free consultations the first Monday of the month from 6 to 8 pm.

If you are interested in a consultation, please send an introduction of no more than 200 words about why you would like to meet with me and a writing sample of up to three poems in the body of the email to poetlaureate@vancouver.ca by February 13, 2012. No attachments please. Only those selected for a consultation will be contacted.
